MAISTERRAVALBUENA is pleased to present the first exhibition in the gallery of the artist Daniel Jacoby.

There is a whale, there is a tortoise and there is a parrot. There is a novelty, there is a lie and there is a death.

Ahold of Get the Things to is the title of the 16mm film shot by Daniel Jacoby where the very possibility of the artistic creation is questioned in a hypothetical future where nothing is left to discover.

Every single piece of the exhibition recreates that world of unconnected images that we can see in the projection, lead by the voices of the performers presenting situations and conversations that take us to an indeterminate and strange place where everything is possible and, on the other hand, there is already nothing left to discover.

The space houses three totem-like sculptures that display a series of objects that belong to the imagery of the project.

A trilogy taken out of context and apparently unconnected, making up together a future place before which we can only feel restless and surprised, without any possibility to understand their complete meaning.

In the other side of the room, backlit poster advertises a film that we shall never watch. “The Hold”, the film, is built from the conflict arisen between the three main characters. Cinematographic elements such as romance, tragedy and life itself, unintelligibly make up a complex plot of scenes and situations, by means of juxtaposition, that we are able to perceive and feel only, but we never have a complete evidence of its meaning.

These random connections, disconcerting and strange, make up the exhibition “Ahold of Get the Things to” by Daniel Jacoby, capturing us into an imagined space so that we are able to keep enjoying the unknown.
